Each menu item carries three optional marks:
- Vegetarian
- Spicy
- Special — for a house speciality or a dish of the day
They show as labels on the item. Marking vegetarian dishes accurately saves your staff the same question every service.
Where the marks are
On each menu item, beneath the name, price, description and image. Tick as many as apply.
Using them well
- Vegetarian — mark every one that qualifies, not just the obvious ones. This is the question your staff answer most.
- Spicy — use it consistently, so an unmarked dish genuinely means mild.
- Special — reserve it for a handful of dishes. Mark everything special and it stops meaning anything.
These are marks, not allergen information. Anything about allergens belongs in the item description, in words.
