Kabul Market LLC at 2179 Lawrenceville Highway, Ste M, Decatur, GA 30033, is a family-owned Afghan grocery and cultural store serving the local Afghan community and newcomers in Georgia. Founded in 2019 originally as a clothing and accessories shop, it soon expanded to include groceries, fresh Afghan bread, halal meat, dry fruits, tea, and traditional home goods. The owner, Baseer Basil, fled Afghanistan in 2014 and used his experience as a journalist, artist, and entrepreneur to create a welcoming space where Afghan culture thrives and the community feels at home .
Inside the bright, well-organized store, customers frequently comment on the freshness of the bread and the wide selection of Afghan staples. It’s the only Afghan grocery in Georgia, and people travel from across the state to shop here—sometimes even from Savannah—drawn by the authentic goods and reasonable prices. Many patrons highlight the warm, respectful service and helpfulness of the owner and staff, making each shopping experience feel personal and culturally resonant.
Kabul Market also plays a vital role in community building: it partners with local refugee programs such as the International Rescue Committee to provide culturally appropriate meals, fresh bread, and groceries to newly arriving Afghan families. This community-first approach has earned it a reputation as more than a store—it’s a cultural hub and support center that bridges tradition and hope in Decatur.
