What should I write in an event description?

What happens, who it is for, what it costs, and exactly where to go on arrival.

1 min read 2 sections Updated 4 days ago
  • What actually happens, in the first line.
  • Who it is for — families, women only, beginners, members.
  • Cost, or that it is free.
  • Whether to book or just turn up.
  • Where to go when they arrive: which door, which floor, where to park.

The arrival detail is the one most often left out and the one most often asked about on the day.

Cover these, in this order

  1. What actually happens, in the first line.
  2. Who it is for — families, women only, beginners, members.
  3. Cost, or that it is free.
  4. Whether to book or just turn up.
  5. Where to go on arrival: which door, which floor, where to park.

The one most often left out

The arrival detail. It is also the thing you will be phoned about most on the day, so writing it saves you the calls.
